"Shadows on the Sand" is a study of a single mussel shell lying on the sand. I took the reference photo at the beach near my home on Cape Cod, and I'm delighted to share it with you as a watercolor painting. The focus of this lesson is on developing soft and hard cast shadows using multiple color layers. The fun is in the process!
